This webinar will provide an overview of the Hochman Method and information about school- and district-wide implementation.

The Hochman Method is an evidence-based and proven approach to implementing writing instruction in any subject and at any grade level. When students develop essential writing skills, they also build the reading, communication, and critical thinking skills that are necessary for success in school, in the workplace, and in life.

During the webinar, our hosts will discuss the principles of the Method and provide information on how to implement it in classrooms, schools, and districts.

“We needed a framework that would work with our new ELA curriculum and something that our content area teachers could use… Even though this is the first year of implementation, our teachers are noticing a difference in the quality of work our students are producing.”

Betsy W.

Literacy Coach, Grades K-6, Celina, OH

“It has been a lot of work up front but it is paying off for the students… The writing has improved… Students are thinking more deeply about what they are reading and they are better able to express their thoughts about what they are reading.”

Erin W.

11th Grade English Teacher, Glen Falls, NY

“This has taken my instruction to a new level.. As an intervention teacher, I have felt like there has never been a systematic way to instruct on writing. We were always putting bandaids on the problem. This will explicitly get at the root cause and help all of our students.”

Rebecca H.

Special Education Teacher, Grades 6-8, Lewis Center, OH

“Showing [students] that there are concrete steps to writing makes it feel achievable for them. They are gradually moving toward independence in the skills they’ve learned… They think about what they’re going to write before they put pen to paper. Watching the light bulb go off is really exciting.”
