As of 2019, The Writing Revolution has trained more than 5,000 educators through courses and partnerships and has reached more than 150,000 students. The Writing Revolution: A Guide to Advancing Thinking Through Writing in All Subjects and Grades (2017) has sold thousands of copies nationally and internationally.
Each year, TWR administers a writing assessment to students in partner schools at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year.
TWR’s goal was for 75% of all students to be proficient according to the TWR Single-Paragraph Rubric at the end of three years of instruction.
This goal was met and exceeded after only two years.
According to data from the New York State Department of Education:
From 2018 to 2019, the average growth in proficiency (score of 3 or 4) of students in TWR partner schools on the New York State 3-8 ELA Exam was higher than the average growth of proficiency of students in both New York City and New York State.
