I stand firmly behind the firsthand counsel I shared with AASA on improving writing instruction. But the question I hear most often from school and district leaders is:
“How can I tell if my school is ready for a writing revolution?”
My advice is simple: ask yourself three questions.
Is there a cohort of five or more teachers already trained by The Writing Revolution (TWR)? A core group of skilled, enthusiastic educators is essential for sparking change. Their expertise and excitement help you build momentum and teacher buy-in. If you do not yet have this team but hope to implement at scale next year, now is the time to send them to training. Our flexible self-paced training helps teachers grow their skills without disrupting scheduled PD days.
Leadership buy-in is just as crucial as teacher buy-in. At TWR, we believe so strongly in equipping leaders with the Hochman Method that we offer training for one leader per building at no cost (link to complimentary training for designated leaders pdf).
Like reading, writing is foundational across all content areas. The most common stumbling block we see is when writing instruction remains siloed in ELA classrooms. Real transformation happens when writing is treated as a schoolwide priority.
If you answered yes to all three, let’s talk. Training and tools are only part of the partnership that TWR can bring to you. We offer our guidance and implementation support services (link to services packet) to help your writing revolution succeed.
If there is any way I can help you move forward, please do not hesitate to reach out.
