Wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park after decades of absence, setting off a chain reaction across the ecosystem. While the return of wolves helped restore balance in some areas, it also created new challenges for people living and working nearby. What began as a scientific effort quickly became a more complicated story about nature and human impact.

Developed in partnership with Retro Report, this elementary resource combines documentary video and a background article with TWR’s writing strategies. Through scaffolded activities, students build knowledge about ecosystems, analyze primary sources, and practice sentence- and paragraph-level writing skills.
