As the first sentence-level strategy taught in Grades 3–12—and the fifth in the K–2 sequence—Sentences & Fragments lays the foundation for understanding what makes a complete sentence. It helps students recognize sentence boundaries, while also reinforcing punctuation, capitalization, and vocabulary. There are three Sentences & Fragments activities: identifying sentences and fragments in a list, changing fragments to complete sentences, and identifying and changing fragments.
